| PORTOFERRAIO, ITALY-(11-5-2003) Following a two hour delay due to light air and some mechanical problems on one of the event-supplied IMX 40s, competitors have left the docks and the 2003 Toscana Elba Cup – Trofeo Locman, the sixth event on Swedish Match Tour 2002/2003, is about to begin.
In the day’s first flight Great Britain’s Andy Beadsworth of the United Airlines Sailing Team squares off against Australia’s James Spithill, former helmsman for the OneWorld Challenge, Sweden’s Magnus Holmberg lines up against Denmark’s Jesper Radich and France’s Sebastien Destramau, tactician for the Le Defi Areva Challenge, mixes it up with the current Swedish Match Tour leader Denmark’s Jes Gram-Hansen of Team Victory Lane.
Race organizers anticipate completing five flights today. The second half of the draw will race on Tuesday, with the top four from each group advancing to Wednesday’s quarterfinal rounds.
